Seems lately that I've been seeing more and more advertisements trying to lure people to their cancer center for treatment. In order to make a commercial, buy ad time on television, the end result must be big dollars. If companies are spending so much money to get your dollars, they must make a killing (no phun intended) if you end up at their cancer facility.
Throughout my journey I've realized there is much money to be made in Cancer. I feel there is so much money being made on treating the disease, that finding a cure is almost economically suicidal.
Sometimes during my treatments I would sit there and think, look at all that goes into treating someone, besides the drugs which cost tens of thousands of dollars for each treatment, there is so much more...here's the list I've come up with:
Doctors
Nurses, the colleges that teach them
Accounting departments
The building they work in
Hospitals we visit to get the cancer cut out of us
Needles
tubing
IV bags, IV poles
Ports
chemo furniture (yes there is chemo furniture)
Wigs, hats
Pharmacies
The manufacturing of the needles, tubing, ports etc (factories)
Radiation equipment
Radiation staff
drugs that we use after the radiation has burned us to a crisp
Transportation of the drugs and equipment
I could go on and on,
If we found a cure for cancer, think of how many people would be out of a job.
