Let me begin by letting you know I'm still hairless. I buzzed of the soft stragglers that keep growing, but no real hair yet.
So for about the past 3 weeks I've had these red painful welts on my left leg, almost like a new varicose vein or something. I went to see my General Practitioner, who diagnosed Phlebitis, which I already knew from self diagnosing my self with the Internet. I asked him about possible blood clots, and said "it would be awful to go through cancer 3 times and die from a stupid blood clot."
He sent me for an ultrasound the next day.
Had the ultra sound and the tech said I couldn't leave until they called my Dr. because they did find a clot. Ok I said, no problem, once you hear in your life, "you have cancer" you can handle just about any news.
My Doctor wanted to admit me for 3 days.. Noooooo I didn't want to but if it was that serious, maybe I should. I spoke with the Dr. on the phone from the hospital, and he told me to call my oncologist and have him admit me because for some reason he couldn't.
Ok called my Oncologist's office, and was told that I did not need to be admitted, but to come to their office right away.
The oncologist started me on blood thinners, one is in a shot form I have to give to myself in my stomach, and the other is a pill form. Coumidin. I have to be on these for 6 months.
After researching more I found out that clots are very common in cancer patients. Shouldn't I have been told what to watch for??? What if what if???
Oh well, maybe God put those welts on my leg to alert me that there was an issue. He's taking care of me.

God is so good isn't he? I am just glad that you are the type of person who takes control of their own health. You noticed and reported. So many people dismiss. I hope you feel better!
