ok I saw a friends post on facebook who has also gone through her cancer journey. One of her Friends asked her if she found a lump or did a doctor found it.

I am frequently asked the same question. I now am wondering why people need to know the answer to this question. I think there a many women out there who don't do self breast exams and feel that if a person finds out she has BC if a doctor finds it, it must give people an excuse not to do self exams. The rationale must be "see she didn't find it, so how can I?"

By the time I was diagnosed it had spread to my lymph nodes one of them was so swollen it seemed like the size of half a hot dog. I thought it was a tendon or muscle. It never occurred to me it was cancer. When I saw the breast surgeon, she felt the initial lump in my breast and made me feel it. And then announced that the hot dog was a very very swollen lymph node. I had a mammogram 3 months before my diagnoses and got a clean bill of health. My cancer is very aggressive and grows very fast. In 3 months it went to a small dot on a mammogram film to bigger than a marble and had spread outside of the breast to my lymph nodes.

My point to my rambling is feel your breasts often...know your breasts and your armpits, and the area below your armpits, on the sides of your breasts, and don't think it cant happen to you. If you feel anything out of the ordinary don't dismiss it and say to yourself "it can't be....." If you feel anything odd or different RUN to your doctor. If your doctor dismisses or shrugs it off go see another Dr till you know for sure if you have cancer or not. It could be the difference between life and death.
