Chemo begins next week

Next Thursday I will start my first cycle of 4 cycles of Taxol and Carboplatin. One cycle = once per week for 3 weeks, then one week off. I will get my treatments on Thursdays around 12:30 so I can work half the day and return to work the following Monday. So for now I'm looking at 4 months or more of therapy. I will have a PET scan after 3 months to ensure the treatment is working.

These are the same drugs they gave me in 2008, so I know what to expect.

Hair will be gone in 3-4 weeks after the first treatment.

Oncologists are waiting for a new drug called a Parp Inhibitor to be approved by the FDA for use in Triple Negative cases. The rumor is once this new drug is approved (hopefully in the Fall of this year) we can begin taking it immediately. I think it will be a pill form, but not sure.

I'm ok. Another summer of being bald and tired. Still better than the alternative!!
